Abstract
Sleep disorders in children refer to a decrease or increase in sleep that is excessive for their age, abnormal types of sleep, unusual behaviors, or unusual events that occur during sleep. Sleep is divided into two main categories: rapid eye movement (REM) sleep and non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep. Any problems in these two main parts can lead to sleep disorders such as insomnia, sleep apnea, sleepwalking, restless legs syndrome, and narcolepsy. These disorders may have multiple causes, including environmental and social factors, biological and physical, heredity and genetics, respiratory problems, stress, anxiety, and depression. Studies have shown that sleep disorders can challenge children's social, academic, and career lives. Hence, children with these disorders have weaker social skills than their peers and face more academic problems. We must first identify the causes of these disorders and then prioritize their treatment and improvement, as these steps can help alleviate the issues mentioned above. This research used a library method, utilizing reputable internet sites and scientific articles. This research aims to investigate the causes of sleep disorders in children and their treatment.
